Betty J. Childress

Betty Childress, age 84, passed away on December 23, 2023 at the Medical Center of Bowling Green. Betty was born in Hart County, KY on February 25, 1939. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Gail Childress, her son, William Rex Childress, her parents, Curtis and Della Scott, and by 7 brothers and sisters: James L. Scott, Victor W. Scott, Raymond D. Scott, Mildred L. Thompson, Wendell C. Scott, Naomi E. Kolb, and Roger D. Scott.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Darlene Childress, of Dallas TX, 10 nieces and nephews, including her care taker, Tommy Scott. A special thanks to her cousin, Ramona and Gary Gardner. 

After she married, Betty lived in Louisville, KY, working for Walgreens for many years, first as a waitress at the lunch counter, then advancing to Assistant Restaurant Manager before finishing her career working in the drug store. In 1997, her son Rex required a heart transplant. Until his death in 2005, his care was her only priority. In later life Betty and Gail lived in Clarkson, KY and Munfordville, KY.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM- 12:00 PM CT on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Brooks Funeral Home in Munfordville, KY,  Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM CT on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Brooks Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Cub Run Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
