Frances Williams

Frances Williams died at home on Sunday, February 2nd, after battling the final stages of lung cancer for more than two years. She was 54.

Fran was born in Bronxville, NY, July 26, 1959, the daughter of Marshall Henry Williams, Jr., M.D. and Mary Butler Williams. Dr. Williams was the longtime director of the Pulmonary Division and Professor of Medicine at The Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York. Mrs. Williams was mother to five children, of which Frances was the fourth.

Fran grew up in Scarsdale, NY and graduated from Scarsdale High School in 1977. She studied Fine Art at the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ and at Murray State University in Murray, KY. In 1981, she moved to Bonnieville, KY and made her permanent home on a 240 acre farm, where she raised goats, ducks, geese, chickens, horses, sheep and purebred Anatolian Shepherd dogs over the course of 34 years there. Fran was an avid environmentalist and land conservationist. She loved the writings of fellow Kentuckian Wendell Berry. She loved raising dogs and was passionate about animal welfare.

She is survived by her four siblings, Dr. Stuart Williams of Montpelier, VT, Pattie Williams of Colchester, VT, Marshall Williams of Woonsocket, RI, and Richard Williams of Barre, VT. Fran is also survived by her son, Morgen Neagle of Burlington, VT, and her daughter, Dorothy Neagle, her husband, David Weinstein, and their daughter, Mae Weinstein, of Hastings on Hudson, NY.

Fran's family and friends will gather to remember her on Saturday, February 8th, from 11am to 1pm at the Priceville Community Center, 7030 Raider Hollow Road, Munfordville, KY. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Hosparus of Elizabethtown, KY or to the ASPCA
