James Jefferson Butcher, age 80 of Albany, KY, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at his home. He is preceded in death by his wife Lee Doris Walters Butcher.

The Jeffersonville, Indiana native was a member of Covenant Christian Church and a graduate of Jeffersonville High School. He served his country as a Lance Corporal in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, and later was the dock supervisor for many years at Wisdom Dock on Dale Hollow Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents James Franklin Butcher and Emma Frances Glaser Butcher, and his grandson, Christopher Miller.

He is survived by his three children, Leeanne Mattingly (Stephen Botkin), Kenneth Butcher, and Kathryn Robertson (Ryan Robertson); his sister, Sandra Waters; four grandchildren, Jaymi Mattingly, Ashley Miller, Terry Sheets, and Shiloh Butcher; and five great-grandchildren; many other loved ones and friends also survive.

The family will welcome friends from 4:00- 8:00 PM CT on Friday, July 10, 2026 and again from 9:00 AM- 2:00 PM CT on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at Brooks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM CT on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at Brooks Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Eastham officiating. Burial will follow in the Munfordville Municipal Cemetery.
