Mary Helen Mathis Trulock, age 74, of Munfordville, KY, passed away Friday, December 24, 2021, at Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green, KY.
She was a homemaker, incredible cook and spent her youth working hard and cleaning homes. She was well known for winning the fried chicken contest at the county fair. She had the voice of an angel. She enjoyed Karaoke and singing for her family, bingo and cooking, but most of all, she loved being with her family. Family was the most important thing to her besides her salvation. She was their safe place and was always welcoming with arms wide open. She was the glue to the family that held everyone together. She was the person to say grace at every family get together and always the first one to tell you how much she loved you and how proud of you she was. She was an incredible mother, a wonderful sister and the best grandmother. She was a member of Little Flock Missionary Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of the late Ossie Mathis and the late Bertha Hayes Mathis. She was also preceded in death by a husband Arthur Bowman Trulock; two sisters and one brother.
She is survived by three daughters, Marilyn Trulock, Bowling Green, KY, Gail Norman, Bowling Green, KY, Sheila Minton (Bobby), Munfordville, KY; one brother, Thomas Henry Mathis, Munfordville, KY; lifelong companion, James Atwell, Munfordville, KY; 5 grandchildren, Josh Shaw, Bobbie Jo Greenway (Jordan), Austin Minton, Ashley Cox and Ethan Cox; 7 great grandchildren, and one due in 2022, Hunter, Phoenix, Lincoln, Ellison, Ira, Paul Jr.and Eliza. She also leaves behind beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon to 8:00 PM CT, Tuesday, December 28, 2021 and from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM CT, Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Brooks Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 29, 2021, Bro. Ben Benningfield officiating. Interment will be at Center Point Cemetery, Munfordville, KY.
