Sonya Thompson, age 57 of Munfordville, KY, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Signature Health Care of Hart County. Sonya grew up in the Dorsey Chapel Methodist Church, and recently she has joined St. Benedict's Catholic Church. She was a retired teacher from Hart County and was a former girls basketball coach, where she was inducted into the 5th District Athletic Directors Hall of Fame. She enjoyed traveling, visiting with friends, and taking care of her animals.

She is the daughter of Sandra Kay Jaggers Thompson and the late Ralph Armond Thompson.

She is survived by her son, Brennen Thompson-Ross, Bowling Green, KY; her mother; one brother, Chip Thompson and his wife Lisa, Sedalia, CO; two nephews, Benjamin Thompson and James Thompson, both of Sedalia, CO; aunts, uncles, cousins and many extended family also survive.

The family will welcome friends from 1:00- 8:00 PM CT on Sunday, March 15, 2026 and again from 9:00- 11:00 AM CT on Monday, March 16, 2026 at Brooks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM CT on Monday, March 16, 2026 with Bro. James Meredith officiating. Burial will follow at the Jaggers Cemetery in Cub Run.
