Verda Cathern (Rice) Thornton

Verda Cathern Thornton, age 77, of Munfordville, KY, passed away Monday, March 16, 2015, at Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green, KY. Mrs. Thornton was a Homemaker and was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of the late Joe Rice and the late Essie Dice Rice.
She is survived by her husband, James Emmitt Thornton; one daughter, Elis Mitchell and husband Stephen, Glasgow, KY; two sons, Don Rice and wife Leah Lousiville, KY, Gary Thornton and wife Pam, Munfordville, KY; two sisters, Hattie Gaines and husband Johnny, Munfordville, KY, Alice Shirley and husband Ricky, Munfordville, KY; one brother, Eugene Rice, Munfordville, KY; ten grand children, six great-grand children, two brothers in law, one sister in law, several nieces and nephews and many friends also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Catherine Ann Thornton and one brother Jay L. Rice.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM CT, Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Brooks Funeral Home and from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM CT, Friday, March 20, 2015 at Woodsonville Baptist Church. Funeral service will be at Woodsonville Baptist Church at 1:00 PM, Friday, March 20, 2015, Rev. Warner Fishback and Rev. K.T. Ford officiating. Interment will be at Woodsonville Memorial Gardens, Munfordville, KY
