Della (Powell) Evans

Della Evans, age 90, of Munfordville, KY, passed away Friday, September 10, 2021, at her residence in Munfordville, KY. She was retired from Brooks Funeral Home, a homemaker and enjoyed caring for grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She would routinely be found ironing and mending clothes for others, and helping wherever she could. The coffee was always available and she stopped what she was doing to spend time with those who would drop by. She was a Kentucky Colonel, charter member of Buckner Post 101 American Legion and Mt. Olivet Missionary Baptist Church.

She was the daughter of the late Kenneth Powell and the late Mary Johnson Powell Fitzpatrick. She was also preceded in death by a husband George Evans, significant other Marty Schenck, son Doug Johnson, two sons-in-law, Lonnie Steele and David Rucker, brother, David Powell and a sister Nora Nunn.

She is survived by three daughters, Susie Rucker, Munfordville, KY, Marsha Cook (Tommy), Horse Cave, KY, Mary Ann Steele, Munfordville, KY; eight grandchildren, Gene Carmon (Lori), Ricky Croghan (Angie), Kendall Cook (Pam), Kerry Johnson, George Bruton (Tonia), April Marcum, Leeann Hennion (Scott), Jason Cook (Destin); several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew.

The family will receive friends 4:00 PM-8:00 PM CT, Monday, September 13, 2021 and 9:00 AM-11:00 AM CT Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Brooks Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM CT Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Brooks Funeral Home with Bro. Dwayne Cook officiating.

Interment will be at Munfordville Municipal Cemetery, Munfordville, KY.
