Jocelyn Rochel (Thompson) Shaw

Jocelyn Rochel Shaw, age 44, of Pelzer, SC, entered into time with a cry on January 17, 1978; she transitioned into eternity with a smile Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at Greenville Memorial Hospital. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior when she was ten years old at Morning Star Baptist Church under the pastorship of Rev. George H. Mitchell, Sr. She played several musical instruments including the piano. She was the pianist for the Sunshine Choir until she graduated high school. She was a faithful member until she moved to Pelzer, SC, where she moved her membership to Shady Grove Baptist Church. She loved working with children and the elderly. Ephesians 4:13, Till we come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.

She was the daughter of Willie Q. Thompson and Mary Waggoner Thompson, of Munfordville.

She is survived by two sons; Langsley Shaw of, Pelzer, SC and Johnathan Shaw of, Pelzer, SC; one brother, Rev. Langston Payton (Emily) of, Lexington, KY; five nieces, Teairra Payton, Morgan Cortes, Brianna Payton, Markaythia Thompson and Annie Wallace; two nephews, Marcus Sherlock and Aubrien Wallace; one great-niece, Talani Brown; a god mother, Mrs. Queen E. Daniels; two special friends, Toynnia Dye and Carol Jackson; a host of relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. CST on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Mt. Gilboa Baptist Church. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. CST on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Mt. Gilboa Baptist Church with Rev. Langston Payton officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Gilboa Cemetery.
