Leonard Alfred "Sylvester" Dixon, age 76, of Bonnieville, KY, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown, KY. He was a member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. He was a US Army veteran where he was a tank mechanic at Ft. Knox. He was a former Sheriffs Deputy for Hart County and a volunteer fire fighter for 36 years with the Bonnieville Vol. Fire Department, serving as fire chief for 8 of those years. Through the years he was an EMT and an ambulance driver for Manakee Funeral Home's ambulance service, he also drove for Health South and Ron and Brenda's Transportation. Above all he was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He will be missed by many.
He was the son of the late Leonard S. Dixon and the late Hazel Lothery Dixon
He is also survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn Dixon, Bonnieville, KY; two daughters, Jacqueline Dixon, Bonnieville, KY and Terri Manship, Salem, IN; four grandchildren, Emmanuel Dixon (Kayla), Twila Dixon Ragland, Trent Dixon, and Dominic Dixon; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Eunice Curle (Rev. Billy), his brothers, Gilbert, Floyd, Monroe, Stevie, Shelby, and Phillip.
The familly will receive friends from 10:00 AM- 1:00 PM CT on Monday, September 18, 2023 at Brooks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM CT on Monday, September 18, 2023 at Brooks Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Curle and Rev. Scotty Curle officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery, Bonnieville, KY.
